The base, in any case, must cause a sensation of terror! The water will overflow past the edge of the base loudly onto the floor and even though there is no sign of danger, will give the frightening impression of being swallowed up. The flow will contribute to the dramatisation of the fountain. The floor should be eroded, smooth and worn down from the pounding of the water.
